The Christmas parade
Visit Oxford’s parade listing sets the 2026 parade for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, on the Historic Downtown Square, with the theme “A Very Oxford Christmas,” a nod to how the community has shown up for one another this year.
Want to march? Entries are open to local groups from the LOU (Lafayette-Oxford-University) community. There is no entry fee, and entries are accepted first come, first served, pending approval. Visit Oxford urges groups not to wait to register.
Road closures and parking for parade night have not been published; we will add them here. For downtown parking rules, see our getting around guide.
Lighting of the Square
Each November, Santa comes to the Square for the ceremonial lighting of the canopy of lights. In 2025 it was 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, with Christmas carols beforehand, Visit Oxford’s holiday guide said. The 2026 date has not been announced.
