Oxford Community Market

Oxford Community Market, known as OXCM, is a nonprofit that runs a weekly Mississippi Certified Farmers Market under the Old Armory Pavilion at the corner of Bramlett and University. It lists its hours as 3 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, year-round. Vendors sell vegetables, eggs, baked goods, honey, flowers and jams, and the market hosts free live music through a Mississippi Arts Commission program, the market says.

SNAP, WIC and senior vouchers. OXCM takes SNAP/EBT and matches every dollar spent on fresh fruits and vegetables, up to $20, with funding from Baptist Hospital, Move on Up Mississippi and United Way. Tell the welcome table you want to use SNAP; staff run your card and give you tokens to spend with vendors. The market says it is Lafayette County’s only redemption site for WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers.

Giving back. Shoppers can buy food from vendors for the market’s weekly fresh food drive, which delivers to The Pantry and to seniors at Canterbury Crest.

The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce certified it in 2011 as a market for Mississippi farmers and food artisans.
