Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants in Oxford: Jackson Avenue and beyond

Oxford’s Mexican restaurants line Jackson Avenue West from El Mariachi out to Chili’s, with more on University Avenue (La Perla Tapatia, Taco Bell). East of the bypass are El Charro and a Chipotle on Sisk Avenue, and near downtown are Lamar Taco Shop, South Depot Taco Shop and Uno Mas.

How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Oxford’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 16, 2026. We added Casa Mexicana, the Sisk Avenue Chipotle, El Mariachi, La Perla Tapatia, Loco Taco and Taco Bell from Visit Oxford’s dining directory and their own sites. Where a place has no website of its own, a recent record in the state health department’s food facility search confirms it is operating. We left off El Agave, whose site blocked us and whose last state inspection was in September 2025, The Taco Shop and La Cocinita de Jackie, with no inspection in the past year, and the San Jose and Ok Maguey addresses, where the state’s records now show other restaurants. The places

Casa Mexicana says it is family owned and has served Oxford for more than 25 years, with dishes made daily. Its site advertises a rooftop social hour from 3 to 6 p.m. every day.

Chili’s is the casual dining chain’s Oxford restaurant. The OpenStreetMap record we started from tags it Tex-Mex, and its page features a margarita of the month and a weekday happy hour.

Chipotle has two Oxford restaurants, on Jackson Avenue West and Sisk Avenue. Both list dine-in, takeout and delivery.

Costa Mexican Bar & Grill on Thacker Loop is linked from Visit Oxford to a site that lists several phone numbers and two sets of hours, so we did not rely on it. An Aug. 10, 2026, state inspection confirms the restaurant is operating; the phone above is from that record.

El Charro Cocina & Cantina is on Sisk Avenue near Oxford Commons and posts its hours and phone on its site.

El Mariachi Grill & Bar lists street tacos, fajitas, quesadillas and birria tacos, plus a buffet, takeout and pickup.

La Perla Tapatia on University Avenue has no website we could find. Visit Oxford says it is family owned and draws on the street food of Jalisco. An Aug. 12, 2026, state inspection confirms it is operating.

Lamar Taco Shop on North Lamar serves street tacos, bowls and quesadillas, its site says.

Loco Taco on Jackson Avenue West has no website we could find. An April 24, 2026, state inspection confirms it is operating.

Los Parrilleros on Merchants Drive has the same problem as Costa: the site linked for it gives conflicting details. A Dec. 2, 2025, state inspection confirms it is operating.

South Depot Taco Shop on Van Buren Avenue posts only its phone number online. A Feb. 23, 2026, state inspection confirms it is operating.

Taco Bell on University Avenue keeps its drive-thru open into the early morning; dining room hours are shorter, its page says.

Uno Mas Tacos y Tequila has restaurants in Oxford and Starkville and lists the Oxford hours and phone separately on its site.
