Oxford and Lafayette County schools are off March 8-12, 2027; Ole Miss is off March 6-14. The Park Commission runs a spring break day camp.
Last checked Oct. 12, 2026. This page is updated each year at the same address. School dates come from the Oxford School District, Lafayette County School District and University of Mississippi calendars; camp details from the Oxford Park Commission. Park Commission: 662-232-2380.
Both Oxford-area school districts take spring break the same week in 2027: Monday, March 8, to Friday, March 12. Ole Miss is off a few days longer, from Saturday, March 6, to Sunday, March 14, so town is quieter than usual that week. The Park Commission runs a day camp for kids, and the parks and trails are open.

Spring break day camp
The Oxford Park Commission’s day camps follow the Oxford and Lafayette County school breaks, and spring break is one of them, according to its day camp page:
- Ages: 5 to 13
- Where: Ulysses “Coach” Howell Activity Center, 396 Price St.
- Hours: drop-off from 7:30 a.m. (the commission prefers campers there by 8:30 a.m.); pickup by 5:30 p.m.
- What they do: sports and recreation, outdoor activities, STEM, creative arts, team building and special guests
- How to register: create an account on the Park Commission website, add your child’s details, then choose the camp under “programs available.” Registration dates for the 2027 spring break camp are not posted yet; the 2026 fall break camp opened registration about five weeks ahead.
- Contact: program manager Hannah Thornton, 662-232-2378
Things to do over the break
- Parks and playgrounds. Avent Park, 120 Park Drive, has a large playground plus one for kids 5 and under, tennis and pickleball courts and a walking trail; Price Hill Park has a spray pool. All the city parks are on our parks and trails guide.
- Indoor play. The Coach Howell Activity Center has open basketball courts, a walking track upstairs and arcade and table games; the gym is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, the Park Commission says.
- Lamar Park. A quiet arboretum with trails, gardens and a lake; dogs on a leash, closed at dusk, according to the city.
- Trails. See our walking and biking trails guide.
- More for kids. Our kids’ activities guide covers playgrounds, story times and rainy-day picks.
Coming up after the break
- Oxford Film Festival: Thursday to Saturday, March 18-20 (Visit Oxford listing).
- Easter: Sunday, March 28. Egg hunts are on our Easter page.
What is open and closed
- City parks and trails stay open; Lamar Park closes at dusk.
- Spring break is not a city holiday, so trash pickup runs on its normal schedule. On Good Friday 2026 city offices closed and bulk trash routes ran a day early; the 2027 holiday schedule is not out yet. See trash and recycling.
