Enrollment and teachers
The most recent federal count, from the NCES directory for the 2023-24 school year, is 334 students and 28 full-time-equivalent teachers, about 11.9 students per teacher. The state’s 2025-26 report card counts 23.9 teacher FTEs at the school.
State report card
Oxford Intermediate earned a B for 2025-26, with 435 of 700 possible points, in the Mississippi Department of Education’s results file, released Oct. 15, 2026. An elementary or middle school needed 402 points for a B and 457 for an A this year. It is the one Oxford School District school that did not earn an A.
From the same file and the school’s report card:
| Measure, 2025-26 | Oxford Intermediate |
|---|---|
| Reading proficiency | 66.6% |
| Math proficiency | 67.2% |
| Reading growth, all students | 74.5% |
| Math growth, all students | 61.4% |
| Chronically absent students | 14.3% |
The school has no science score in the state’s file; for schools that do not test science, the state equates the score to the 700-point scale, according to the file’s notes. Mississippi grades every school and district from A to F. For elementary and middle schools the state counts test scores, how much students improve from one year to the next, with extra weight on the lowest-performing 25% of students, and English learners’ progress, according to its guide to the system (PDF). Because the writing part of the English test was field tested in 2026, the state calculated this year’s grades from the higher of the 2025-26 or 2024-25 English results. The state says 2025-26 grades set a new baseline that “cannot be compared to grades for previous school years.”
Attendance zone
The Oxford School District has no attendance zones inside its boundary: it runs one school for each grade band, so every district sixth grader is assigned to Oxford Intermediate. Students arrive from Central Elementary and move on to Oxford Middle School and Oxford High School.
The district’s boundary does not follow the city limits. Its boundaries page has a map and says it “should not be considered official confirmation of school assignment or district boundaries”; it asks families to confirm a property with the Lafayette County Tax Assessor at 662-234-5562. Homes outside the boundary are in the Lafayette County School District, where sixth graders attend Lafayette Upper Elementary. We found no boundary change approved by the school board.
Calendar and bell times
The school’s contact page lists student drop-off from 7:45 a.m., breakfast from 8 a.m. and classes from 8:40 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Its bell schedule shows the day in blocks, with lunch periods between 11:40 a.m. and 1:10 p.m.
From the district’s 2026-27 academic calendar:
- Thursday, Oct. 22: progress reports
- Nov. 23-27: Thanksgiving break, all schools and offices closed
- Friday, Dec. 18: early dismissal
- Dec. 21 to Jan. 1: Christmas break; students return Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2027
