State report card

Lafayette Upper Elementary earned an A for 2025-26, with 464 of 700 possible points, in the Mississippi Department of Education’s results file, released Oct. 15, 2026. An elementary school needed 457 points for an A this year. The Lafayette County School District as a whole earned an A with 703 points.

From the same file and the school’s report card:

Measure, 2025-26 Lafayette Upper Elementary
Reading proficiency 67.4%
Math proficiency 68.0%
Science proficiency 78.4%
Reading growth, all students 76.7%
Math growth, all students 66.4%
Chronically absent students 19.5%

Mississippi grades every school and district from A to F. For elementary and middle schools the state counts test scores in English, math and science, how much students improve from one year to the next, with extra weight on the lowest-performing 25% of students, and English learners’ progress, according to its guide to the system (PDF). Because the writing part of the English test was field tested in 2026, the state calculated this year’s grades from the higher of the 2025-26 or 2024-25 English results. The state says 2025-26 grades set a new baseline that “cannot be compared to grades for previous school years.”

Attendance zone

The county district runs one school for each grade band, so every district student in third through sixth grade is assigned to Lafayette Upper Elementary. Students arrive from Lafayette Elementary and move on to Lafayette Middle (grades 7 and 8) and Lafayette High.

The district’s boundaries map (PDF) shades the Oxford School District area apart from the five county school board districts. Most city addresses are in the Oxford School District, where these grades are split among Della Davidson Elementary (third grade), Central Elementary (fourth and fifth) and Oxford Intermediate (sixth). Confirm an address with the Lafayette County Tax Assessor at 662-234-5562. We found no boundary change approved by the school board.
