Patios and outdoor dining in Oxford: balconies, rooftops and porches

Oxford’s outdoor seating is concentrated on and near the Square: the balconies at Bouré and Oxford Grillehouse, the patios at The Sipp and Miscellanea on South Lamar and the rooftops at Rhythm & Rye and Donut Distillery on Jackson Avenue East. North Lamar has Volta Taverna and Big Bad Breakfast, and Phillips Grocery’s porch is farther down South Lamar.

How we made this list. We started from OpenStreetMap records inside Oxford’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, and from Visit Oxford’s dining directory, then kept only places whose own website, checked on Oct. 16, 2026, says it has a patio, porch, balcony, rooftop or outdoor seating. An OpenStreetMap tag alone was not enough: Common Ground, Lost Pizza, Mugshots and PizzaShop are tagged for outdoor seating, but their sites do not say so, and Newk’s page would not load for us. Seating can close in bad weather or for private events. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. Run one of these places? Big Bad Breakfast on North Lamar invites diners to “enjoy the outdoor patio,” its site says.

Bouré on the Square says its upstairs bar has the largest balcony on the Square. The bar keeps later hours than the restaurant.

Casa Mexicana on Highway 6 West advertises a rooftop social hour from 3 to 6 p.m. every day.

Donut Distillery on Jackson Avenue East says it is the only one of the chain’s shops with a rooftop bar, Donut Rooftop, which keeps its own hours.

First Watch on South Lamar Court says it has an outdoor patio for brunch and lunch.

IHOP on Jackson Avenue West lists outdoor seating among its amenities.

Miscellanea Spirit House on South Lamar has a fully covered patio with outdoor seating and a Garden Room open to the air, its site says. It serves brunch only on home game weekends and some holidays.

Oxford Grillehouse on the Square serves dinner and late-night food upstairs on The Balcony, its site says.

Phillips Grocery on South Lamar has a front porch and a back patio for outside seating, and it is BYOB.

Rhythm & Rye is a rooftop restaurant and bar above Jackson Avenue East, in the Courtyard by Marriott building, with live music on its rooftop stage.

The Sipp on South Lamar offers seating on its outdoor patio, in the main dining room or in a private tasting room.

Volta Taverna on North Lamar says its outdoor patio is pet friendly and it opens the garage doors to the dining room when the weather allows.
